One thing that dads and kids have trouble with sometimes is figuring out cool gift ideas for moms. They usually go for cards, flowers, and jewelry. But sometimes that’s not the type of thing that she really likes.

As a mom, one of the things that I love to get as a gift is something that the kids made or got just for me. A simple card or picture that not only shows their personality but also that they took the time to create something that is just right. I’ve never been big on jewelry, flowers, or anything like that. Coupn books have always been a favorite of mine and I love the idea. Basically, the kids and dad put together a little book of coupons for mom. The idea is that when she wants to, mom can cash in the coupon with one of the kids or dad. Whoever gets the coupon does what is on it, so mom doesn’t have to.

Some moms out there aren’t really into what most would see as normal gifts. (it’s me, I’m a mom like that). They would much rather get a gift that is more suited to their personality than just your normal run-of-the-mill mom gift.
If mom enjoys a glass or two of wine, then a bottle of wine would be a great gift for her. You can make it personalized by adding a unique wine label to the bottle. These wine labels are super fun and will get a laugh out of mom for sure. Add in a wine glass just for her to make a fun gift basket.
Or if mom is into fitness or habit tracking these printable habit trackers are great. You can easily keep track of each thing you want to do and there are different types to choose from.
Gift cards
These can be for just about anywhere, but it’s best to get them for her favorite place. They don’t have to be for regular stores either, you can get them for just about anything that mom likes. You can get them just about anywhere online, but I like to use Rakuten. It has hundreds of stores right on the site, and you can buy gift cards right there.

Now, these ideas are not perfect for every mom, but they can be a good place to start. The idea is to get her something that she wouldn’t buy for herself for whatever reason.
There are hundreds of different handmade gifts that you can make, you just have to put in a little elbow grease and creativity. If you are stuck for an idea, a simple search online can give you all sorts of ideas to spark your creativity. You can put together gift baskets of her favorite candy, bath sets, or herbal teas. Or you could make hand-print cards from the kids if they are younger.
Final thoughts
Mom’s don’t want you to spend a lot on them, they just want your time. By making gifts instead of buying them you can show mom how much you care about her. Giving gift cards that are specific to her likes and interests does too. Some of the ideas here are better for older children to gift, but no matter what age you are, your mom would love anything that is unique to your relationship.
