Side Hustle Ideas You Can Do From Home

Most of the time when you start to think about starting up something on the side for extra money. We think about things we can do from home in our spare time.

These are just some ideas to give you a starting point for things you can do at home for more money.

Start a Blog

Starting a Blog seems like a go-to for a lot of people when they think of starting a side hustle. There are tons of information out there on exactly what to do and how to do it.

But…..deciding to start a blog that generates a profit is a little more work than just throwing a few posts up on a website.

If all you want to do is have it for a hobby and MABEY make some money down the road, then by all means do what I did and jump right it.

You can get a self-hosted website from Bluehost HERE. And you can get started right away for as little as 3.95 a month.

But if you want to really get started the right way I would go a little different route.

Take the time to research and really figure out what you are going to do. My advice is to take a course on starting a blog and learning from those that have done it before.

My favorite person to learn anything from is Suzie Whitfield. Her courses are a goldmine of really good information and will get you started on the right track.

I suggest you start with The Blogging By Number Ebook or Course. Both are filled with all the information you need to get a blog up and running the right way.

But it will still take time before it starts to generate an income. Blogging is a long-term type of side hustle and it can take some time depending on your choice of topic to start to generate a sizable income.

Open a Etsy shop

If you are a crafty person you can start an Etsy shop as a side hustle.

That’s actually one of my other side hustles. I create them in Canva and upload them to the shop.

I have a small shop of Printable’s on Etsy and have made a little bit from it. It’s easy to set up and I enjoy creating products for it.

If you are into any type of crafting or DIY type things it would be a great way to go. The thing to keep in mind in this, just like any other online business is that it can take time to build up.

But once the ball gets rolling it can be a good side hustle to bring in a bit (or a lot) of extra income.

If making printables sounds like something that you could do I suggest taking Printables By Number by Suzi Whitford. This course lays out exactly how to get started and set up shops in a few different places.

writing online as a side hustle idea

Freelance Writing

If you have a knack for writing this could be a good fit.

There are a TON of resources out there to get you started.

But I have found Elna Cain to be the best source of information out there. She has tons of helpful content on her sites and her Write to 1k course is a goldmine.

I highly suggest you check out her site to get started in the right direction.

Become a Virtual Assistant

Another good option is becoming a Virtual Assistance.

With the boom of online businesses, there is no shortage of new businesses that need help.

If you have basic office skills this is definitely something that you should look into.

But even if you don’t there are a ton of different things that businesses need and plenty of work out there for anyone willing to learn.

One place to find out more about all things VA-related is The Virtual Savvy website. They have free tips and a Facebook group that will help you launch a VA business the right way.

This is a more niched service that you can do for online business owners. But if you love to hang out on Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites this would be a good fit for you.

What it is

A Social Media assistant is someone that handles the various Social accounts that a business or blog might have.

But you need to stay up to date on best practices for the different sites and learn how to extend your client’s reach.

Some things that you might do are create posts that are informational and that engage followers. And you would respond to all comments and questions promptly.

Pinterest Assistant/Manager

Pinterest is a huge search engine that is visual-based. A Pinterest Assistant or Manager is responsible for creating pins and descriptions that entice people back to the website.

Again you have to learn how Pinterest best practices work and stay up to date on any changes. But if you like spending time on Pinterest then this is a great option.

Sell Canva Templets

Selling pre-made templates that others can use is definitely a side hustle that you can do.

Canva has both a free and pro version. If you are just starting the free version is just fine.

You can sign up for a free account HERE

It’s easy to create templates for eBooks, workbooks, planners, or just about anything.

There are a lot of online content creators out there and they don’t always have the time or ability to make the base template for themselves.

You can sell them on Etsy or Creative Market and easily make a good chunk of change each month.

If you decide that this is something that you could do I suggest you check out The Side Blogger. She has an amazing course that outlines exactly how to set up and create templates for others to use.

Sell Photography

If you love to take pictures this is a side hustle that you can totally do.

You can even just use your smartphone if you don’t have a good camera.

There are tons of sites that you can place your photos on to sell. And there are always bloggers and business owners looking for great pictures for their site.

Proofreading is becoming a booming side business for a lot of people.

You can easily find people that need proofreaders on Upwork.

Since has been a boom in online content over the past few years there are tons of people that are looking for someone to check their work before they publish it.

A great resource for finding more information on proofreading is Proofread Anywhere. This site shows you everything that you need to do to get started.

Transcription

Transcription is another side job that you can do online.

Again a search on Upwork is the easiest way to find Transcription jobs or you can check out Transcribe Me. You can easily sign up and start working right away.

Sell Graphics

If you are good with designing graphics you can sell them on several different sites.

There are always people looking for unique designs and graphics for their websites and products.

They are easy to create in Canva (sign up for free here) and upload to places like Creative Market, Etsy, or Design Bundles.

You can also sign up for a Fivver account and people can find you for custom designs and graphics.

Start a Podcast

A Podcast would be great if you like to talk to people. You can also start a podcast on just about anything.

If you have ideas that you think the world needs but don’t want to start a blog then a Podcast would be a great way to go.

The best place to get all the information you need is The Podcast Host. They have a step-by-step guide on how to start a podcast and they also have a ton of resources for you too.

Start a Youtube channel

If you love being in front of the camera then why not start a YouTube channel.

You can share just about anything that you are into in video format and earn money through ads and sponsored content.

This isn’t a get-rich-quick thing. It takes time to build an audience and get going.

But if you have the time and ideas to share this is a great side hustle that you can easily start.
