Why You Need a Daily Routine

Graphic for Why you need a daily routine

Having a daily routine or at least a morning routine is a key factor in keeping your motivation up. It keeps you on track to do things that you need to do each day. And it can keep you from wasting your whole day doing nothing.

I get that it is easier to scroll social media or binge-watch your favorite shows while you are stuck at home. But that can leave you feeling like you wasted the day. There are some times that you need to do just that and it’s totally okay. It’s just not good if that’s all you do all day, every day. Then it can be a drain on you both mentally and physically.

That is why having some sort of routine is important. It can boost your mood, motivation and keeps you on track with what you really need to be doing.

The best way to get your motivation back is to stick to a routine. Keeping up with a daily routine is important. It can help to motivate you to get started working, cleaning, or whatever you need to do. I like to keep myself to a routine in the mornings because it helps me to wake up and mentally get ready for the day. Even if I don’t plan on doing much, I still feel better if I stick to my regular routine.

My Daily Routine is Simple.

I get up and have my first few cups of coffee (coffee addict here). Then I get myself dressed and ready for the day. I stick to much the same morning routines now even though I am not working as much (server by day).

By sticking to a simple routine, I can incorporate new tasks to my day when I need to. Like helping my kids with their school work during the day.

I usually make a list of things I want/need to do the day before so that when I am ready I can start working/cleaning. Most of my lists are in my planner so that I can see day by day what I need to do.

I love this planner, it’s so much easier to keep everything organized. And comes with stickers to color code everything. If I have a day that I can’t get myself to do much, I still try and do at least one of the things from my list so I can cross something off for the day.

The rest rolls over to the next day. It’s okay if you don’t get much done for the day, it’s better to get something done each day to keep active.

By keeping active you will see that you are more motivated to get things done.

Reasons Why You Need to Stick to a Daily Routine

Why you need a daily routine

Keeps your spirits up

Sticking to any kind of regular routine will keep you active and on track for staying positive even on days when it feels like nothing is working. By staying active you can help yourself stay in a more positive mindset. This will keep you from falling into bouts of depression that can stem from social distancing and isolation.

Get up and move

One thing to keep in your routine is some sort of exercise. Even if it’s just a short walk in the morning. This will get you up and moving around a little bit each day. By getting up and moving around you are keeping your body active and getting small amounts of exercise. If you sit for extended periods of time it is very bad for your health.

Sense of normalcy

By keeping to a routine and doing regular tasks around the house, you get a sense of normalcy in a time when it is anything but normal. This is one of the best things you can do to keep your spirits up through difficult times.

If you are anything like me, you do not like change. I dislike any changes that disrupt my normal everyday schedule. By keeping up with the things that I need to do around the house or on the blog, I can keep myself motivated to continue to do things that I need to.

Final Thoughts on Daily Routines

I take heart in the thought that this will not be our new normal for long, and that eventually, things will go back to the way that they used to be. But for now, I will do my best to adapt to my new routines and hope that we will come out the other side of this better than we were before.

Keeping up with normal routines will be easier to get back to our lives the way they were before the world as we know it got uprooted.
