Self-Care is important all year long. But as the seasons change sometimes our self-care needs change too. Fall self-care ideas are a little different than summer or spring ones.

With the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season, it’s even more important than usual to take care of our needs and really take care of ourselves. Autumn is the perfect time to stop and relax after the busy summer and before we start the holidays.

Whether you love to spend time outdoors in the fall or would rather cozy up in the house. There are many different autumn self-care ideas that you can do in the fall.

Here is a list of some of my favorite things to do every fall that really helps to relax and recharge.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

One of my favorite things to do with the kids is to pick out their pumpkins for the porch. After they pick the best ones we usually wait a little bit before we carve them.

Go Apple Picking

There is nothing better than getting fresh apples straight from the tree. Being originally from central New York one of my favorite things to do was to go apple picking in the fall.

Go For a Hike

Getting out in nature is one of the best things you can do for yourself. But it’s even better in the fall. The colors are so beautiful and it really is a wonderful time to be outside.

Decorate for Fall

It’s time to put away the summer decorations and break out the autumn ones. Fall wreaths and nick-knacks are some of my favorite things to put up.

Go on a Hayride

Fall is the perfect time for a hayride. Just relax and enjoy the ride. The whole family will enjoy spending time together too. You can play games, sing along with the radio or just talk and enjoy each other’s company.

Put Away Summer Stuff

Since we are getting ready for colder weather. It’s time to store the shorts and swim stuff and bring out the cold weather gear and jackets.

Do an Outside Fire Pit

This is one of my favorites. I love to spend time around the fire with friends and family. We put on music, roast smores, and either talk or just enjoy each other’s company. Thiers just something so relaxing about it.

Light Fall Candle Scents

Autumn scents are some of my favorites. (can you tell I really like the fall season 😊) They are so warm and inviting. I love the way the house smells when I light them.

Start Holiday Planning

Time to gear up for the holidays. With the biggest season right around the corner. Fall is the best time to get started planning all your Thanksgiving and Winter holiday celebrations. That way you are prepared for them.

Set Up a Hot Chocolate Bar

I love setting up a little hot chocolate bar for the kids. We use it throughout the fall and winter seasons. They get to pick all their favorites and they really enjoy it.

Bake Cookies

The smell of warm cookies on a cool day is one of the best things. It fills the house with such a warm feeling and you get some tasty treats when they are done. Plus the kids will love having fresh cookies in the house.

Fall Yard Work

Getting the yard ready for the cold season can be very relaxing. Plus it’s fun to rake a big pile of leaves and just dive in (your inner child will thank you).

Halloween movie fest

Some of the best movies are centered around the fall and Halloween. So go ahead turn down the lights and enjoy a scary movie or a not-so-scary one.

Paint Your Nails a Fall Color

Change out your summer colors for warmer fall tones. It will really help you to relax and get into the season too.

Go For a Scenic Drive

I’ve always been a fan of road therapy. One of my favorite things to do is go for a drive in the country and see all the different colors on the trees each year.

Get Out the Warm Blankets

Cooler weather means it’s time to cozy up. Bring out the warm comfy blankets and snuggle up.

Paint/Carve pumpkins

As Halloween draws closer it’s time to carve or paint those pumpkins. Another thing you can do is write out some positive affirmations or quotes.

Decorate for Halloween

You see the theme here too right. I love Halloween and will take any excuse to start decorating early. So get those scary decorations out and have fun decorating.

Get Out Those Comfy PJs

Time to swap out your summer pajamas for warmer ones. It makes snuggling on the couch watching movies even better.

Drink Some Hot Cider or Cocoa

There is nothing better on cold evenings than a hot drink. Take time to savor the taste and really relax.

Fall Bucket List

Make a fall bucket list of all your autumn self-care ideas and goals. That way you have plenty of ideas to choose from throughout the season.
